NBN Co declared that it will be held the next National Broadband Network (NBN) satellite ground station in Geeveston of southern Tasmania.
The Geeveston ground station is a single floor building with two 13.5-meter diameter satellite dishes and will be put into use in 2013. This station will serve for 15,000 and 20,000 people for both homes and businesses in Australia at the speed of 12 megabits per second.
Matt Dawson, NBN Co’s program director stated that the purpose of NBN satellite service is to establish the connection between the city and the bush in Australia.
This building will be constructed early next year and can create 30 jobs for the region. This satellite station is the third station after Bourke and Merimbula of New South Wales, which are marked as NBN satellite base station locations. At present, there are totally ten stations like those three in Australia.
